Walking As One
One thing is for sure....Delta's Zetas take philanthropy seriously. The creed encourages us to give graciously to those that our our lives may touch in slight measure. Whether that means time, energy, enthusiasm or financially, Delta Zetas are out there making a difference and I am so proud to be among women that value compassion and service. The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. All over the nation, people are "making strides" and Delta Zetas are among them. The Dayton Area Alumnae Chapter raised over $2,500 for the cause and along with the Collegiate Delta Zeta women Of Wright State, Kappa Iota chapter, there were about 25 of us walking as one, "Team Pink Turtles". Service is not just about the active accomplishment of doing something for others or raising money for a charity or cause but it is also about personal growth and gratitude for the blessings that we have. As I walked among so many serving the cause the fight breast cancer, I was thankful. I am blessed to have health. There are so many that fight every day just to live another one. Take time for service because it does make a difference to the lives of others. Then take a step back and look at the big picture. Service to others not only helps the cause, whatever it may be, but it builds personal character and reminds us to be thankful and gracious for our lives and the many blessings we sometimes take for granted.
