Do you want to get involved?
No matter what year you graduated or how much or little you want to be involved....Delta Zeta sisterhood can always be a home for you. We meet every month (except during the summer) on the 2nd Tuesday at various locations around the Dayton area. We make sure to get involved in the community and to provide programming that is interesting to everyone! We are in the process of electing officers for 2008/09 and look forward to seeing you at an upcoming meeting or event! We are always looking to expand our sisterhood by inviting alumna of all ages. We grow and learn from each other!

Founder's Day Celebration
How appropriate that the Delta Zeta Founder's Day is celebrated during the autumn season. Fall represents change and preparation. The leaves change their color from a youthful, fresh green to the mature hues of bronze and gold. The animals begin their quest for food and warm shelter from the winter months that get closer with each day. The air is crisp and every breath feels like a wake up call that the earth is changing.
Every Founder's Day, I am reminded of change. This year was no exception. It's funny how every year, I get physically older but my spirit still feels youthful like the fresh green leaves of spring. On Founder's Day we all gather together. Delta Zetas in all seasons of their life. Some young women, barely 20 along with women in their 30s, 50s and so on.... each with a story to tell. I love this part of Founder's Day. Sharing stories about chapter life reminds me of a wonderful college experience, amazing friends and hilarious memories and Delta Zeta was a huge part of that.
The collegiate women hosted Founder's Day this year. They shared with us a ceremony. "What it means to be a Delta Zeta". Every collegiate women made a personal statement of what Delta Zeta means to them and gave an alumnae woman a rose. "Delta Zeta means never eating lunch alone", "Delta Zeta means having a friend who loves you despite your imperfections", "Delta Zeta is home". I listened intently to the many other personal meanings of Delta Zeta and I smiled. Yes, Delta Zeta has all of those meanings. Delta Zeta is personal to each of us no matter what season of life we experience or what changes we may be going through or preparing for. The meanings and the bond of Delta Zeta sisterhood is universal.
So "weather" or not we are ready for change, just as the seasons tell us, it is inevitable. We must celebrate where we come from, live in today but embrace where we are going with great big open arms and Founder's Day is a special time to remember just that.

Walking As One
One thing is for sure....Delta's Zetas take philanthropy seriously. The creed encourages us to give graciously to those that our our lives may touch in slight measure. Whether that means time, energy, enthusiasm or financially, Delta Zetas are out there making a difference and I am so proud to be among women that value compassion and service. The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. All over the nation, people are "making strides" and Delta Zetas are among them. The Dayton Area Alumnae Chapter raised over $2,500 for the cause and along with the Collegiate Delta Zeta women Of Wright State, Kappa Iota chapter, there were about 25 of us walking as one, "Team Pink Turtles". Service is not just about the active accomplishment of doing something for others or raising money for a charity or cause but it is also about personal growth and gratitude for the blessings that we have. As I walked among so many serving the cause the fight breast cancer, I was thankful. I am blessed to have health. There are so many that fight every day just to live another one. Take time for service because it does make a difference to the lives of others. Then take a step back and look at the big picture. Service to others not only helps the cause, whatever it may be, but it builds personal character and reminds us to be thankful and gracious for our lives and the many blessings we sometimes take for granted.

A Generation of Sisterhood
There we sit. Together. A sisterhood that spans decades, literally. One sister has been a committed member for over six decades to Delta Zeta. Others have given only a few years. But together we sit, laughing, eating and sharing about one commonality we all possess: Delta Zeta is home to each of us. As I reflect upon that day, our first alumnae meeting after a hot summer break, I smile as I remember some of our older members sharing their favorite memories of being in Delta Zeta. Stories of building floats with fraternity men for Homecoming, singing, ceremony mishaps....I can't help but picture it in my mind. What great sense of sisterhood we all have and share with each other. So I sit and listen to my Delta Zeta sisters and feel a great sense of warmth, a true sense of belonging because I know that I am part of something beautiful....
